For many of us, Sundays can be a day to dread! Our last day of weekend bliss before heading back to the grind early Monday morning. But the Sunday Scaries don’t have to take hold and ruin a full day of your weekend! Check out these foolproof ways to beat the Sunday Scaries for good.
Connect with friends, but plan wisely
Remember, Sunday is still “weekend!” Don’t shy from making plans with friends or family, but plan wisely. Instead of organizing a dinner party that you have to prep, cook, and clean for, consider a brunch or going out for a bite with friends. Some ideas for plans:
- Host or go out to brunch
- Meet friends for an exercise class or walk
- Host friends for lunch and a movie
- Catch the early-bird special at your favorite restaurant
Whatever you plan, give yourself some time at the end of the day to unwind and get in the right headspace for Monday.
Do something productive
Don’t start you week off on the wrong foot! Sundays are a great time to be productive and check a few things off of your to-do list before the week comes. By taking time on Sunday, you eliminate some weekday stress and can get things done more effectively and start the week feeling accomplished, instead of feeling like you laid on the couch for 3 days straight. Consider one of these:
- Mini clean your apartment
- Finish a load of laundry
- Do your weekly grocery shop
- Prep veges and salads for week’s meals
Remember, this doesn’t mean your whole day is spent on chores! Choose a couple things to get done on Sunday and knock them out in a couple hours…. leaving you plenty of time for fun, too!
Do something calming
- Take a long walk or bike ride
- Call a friend or family member out of town
- Read a book
- Catch up on favorite show
At the end of the (Sun)day, your weekend and time away from work should have recharged you. Listen to your body, look at your calendar over the next week, and schedule time that will energize you! Feeling tired? Know that you have lots of activities planning in the next week? Then take the time to veg out on the sofa and catch up on your favorite show, read or play games.
However you avoid your Sunday Scaries, plan to do a few things that will put a smile on your face and set you up for a successful week.
