Dispatch from Apartment #1

Hey there. I’m Kate, your new West Coast representative. I moved to Los Angeles last fall after four years at school in Boston. My primary goal? To escape winter. After that came the job, the car, and, oh, what’s this about a permanent place to live? Finding and maintaining an apartment was not, at least at first, a big concern.

Several months later, after wearing out my welcome on friends couches and becoming intimately acquainted with the whackos of Craigslist, I finally found and secured my first apartment. It’s a great little two bedroom in the heart of Hollywood, which isn’t as glamorous as you might imagine, but it’s a lot of fun.

When I got to LA, I couldn’t tell my credit score from a Clorox wipe. Now I’ve got the distinction down pat. In this blog, I’m going to share with you what I’ve learned from venturing out on my own. I’ve made mistakes, expensive ones, and I’ve had some wonderful surprises. I hope that my tales of my epic battles against varmints, my codependent landlord, and how I learned to pay the gas bill on time will boost your confidence and help you figure out the system a little quicker than pure trial and error might allow.

Thanks for reading! Until next time, happy hunting.
